Today, we fight for the honor of being the number one Game of Thrones fans. I just want to share my ultimate GOT fan moment: We were in France for my husband’s first marathon (Marathon du Medoc) and we stayed in Paris for a couple of days.
On our first day there, we did a warm up jog and since I wasn’t training for a marathon, I jogged a little and walked around. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the GOT logo and a very long line at the Louvre. I waited patiently for my husband to finish and told him the incredible news. But even though he was the bigger fan, he wanted to go back to the apartment to freshen up and change his clothes. When we got back to the Garden de Tuileries, we were hungry, so we ate a burger and a crepe. I think you don’t need to know that *spoiler alert* the next part is a tragic turn of events. When we finally made it to the line, there was a sign and many staff members telling us that we missed our chance. The solution seemed simple enough, we could just go back the next day. But no, they said that the tickets were pre-sold and completely sold out! My fan heart melted. I would’ve shouted “hold the line” and made a scene but at that point in time, Hodor’s big scene didn’t happen yet in our timeline.
Fast forward to day two in Paris. Still no luck. All the staff members of the event repeatedly told us that we couldn’t get in. We were given several postcards with Daenerys and the White Walkers to make us feel better. We walked around and saw Filipino friends Bernard Cloma and Bang Pineda.
! No longer downtrodden, we made a final attempt and actually made our way downstairs to the area where they were having the exhibit. Several rejections still. My fan heart was now hopeful as I had made it to the wall. My husband went to the toilet and I was alone. I saw a man who was not in the same t-shirt as the rest of the staff. He had the same ID but a nicer shirt, he had to be the Lord Commander. I approach him and I ask if I could enter. A group also did the same. They were about to go in but my husband was nowhere in sight. I was ready to leave him and enter alone when the Lord Commander told me I could form a new line. I proudly stood in the start of the line. Soon more wildlings followed and it became a formal line with a rope and all! I felt proud to have passed the rejection tests and scaled the wall successfully!
